A small-scale 10 TPD cold-pressing line for a Saudi date processor targeting the cosmetics and high-end culinary oil market with cold-pressed date seed oil.
Date seed oil is a high-value specialty oil — rich in oleic acid, used in cosmetics, hair care, and high-end culinary applications. The client is one of Saudi Arabia's largest date processors, looking to add value to the date seeds (currently a low-value waste stream).
The line is a small-scale 10 TPD cold-pressing operation. The seeds are first cleaned and roasted (a controlled process that determines the final flavor profile), then cold-pressed at <40°C. Crude oil is filtered and bottled under nitrogen to preserve freshness.
The line is designed to be operated in a clean-room environment (date seed oil is cosmetic-grade). The entire system is enclosed, with temperature and humidity control on the bottling section.
The cold-pressed date seed oil sells for USD 80-150/L in the cosmetics and culinary-specialty markets, compared to USD 3-5/L for refined edible oils. With 10 TPD of date seeds yielding approximately 8% oil, the line produces around 800 kg/day of premium oil, generating annual revenue of USD 8-12 million at retail prices.
