A 400 TPD physical refining line for a Turkish oilseed processor, using a steam-refining deodorizer to minimize process losses and improve yield.
The Marmara region is the heart of Turkey's sunflower oil industry. The client is one of the larger regional players, and they wanted a new refining line that maximized yield — physical refining is the right choice for sunflower oil because the crude oil is low in phosphorus and waxes.
The line is a 400 TPD physical refining train: degumming (water) → bleaching (acid-activated earth) → steam-refining deodorization (250-260°C, 2-3 mbar) → cooling → polish filtration. The physical process minimizes process loss compared to chemical refining, which is the decisive economic advantage on a 400 TPD line.
The deodorizer is our high-performance design, with structured packing for vapor-liquid contact, dual-temperature heating (economizer + main heater), and a thermal oxidizer (TOX) for vapor treatment. The TOX is sized for the European emission limits the client needs to meet.
Scheduled for cold commissioning in Q3 2024, the line is designed to process the client's 2024 sunflower harvest at full capacity. The line is expected to refine approximately 130,000 MT of crude sunflower oil in its first year of operation.
