A 120 TPD dry fractionation line for a Thai palm oil refiner, producing high-iodine-value olein for the cooking oil market and stearin for the oleochemical industry.
The client is a mid-sized Thai palm oil refiner. They wanted to add a fractionation step to their existing refinery to produce high-IV olein (≥56) for the cooking oil market and stearin for industrial buyers (oleochemicals, biodiesel feedstock).
The line is a detergentless dry fractionation system using controlled cooling crystallization + membrane filter press separation. The line operates at 18-22°C for olein production, with melt point control achieved by cooling rate and residence time.
The PFAD (palm fatty acid distillate) by-product is sold to the biodiesel industry. The olein is sold in bulk to cooking oil bottlers; the stearin is sold in 25kg bags to the oleochemical sector.
The line has been running at full capacity since Q4 2023, with annual olein output of approximately 39,000 MT and stearin output of approximately 9,500 MT. The line includes a 99.5% pure olein output, among the highest in the industry.
