A 30 TPD cold-pressing line built for an Ethiopian sesame exporter targeting the high-end retail market in Asia and the Middle East with cold-pressed sesame oil.
Ethiopian sesame — particularly from Humera and Gondar — is recognized worldwide for its flavor and quality. The client wanted a processing line that preserves that profile: cold pressing, no chemical refining, just filtration.
The line uses a single-screw press with controlled-temperature cooking (max 60°C). Crude oil is settled for 48 hours to remove gums, then filtered through a plate filter to 0.5 micron clarity. No alkali, no bleaching earth, no deodorization. The result is a premium, light-amber sesame oil with full flavor and aroma.
The hulls removed in the cleaning section are sold to the Ethiopian cattle feed market. The pressed sesame meal is sold as a high-protein, low-fat ingredient for bakeries and tahini producers.
The line was containerized for shipment on the Djibouti-Addis Ababa rail corridor, then installed and commissioned in 6 weeks. The client reports the cold-pressed oil fetches 2-3x the price of refined sesame oil in the export market, with payback estimated at 2 years.
